NOT ALL HPERBARIC CHAMBERS ARE THE SAME
Hyperbaric oxygen is a medical treatment in which pure oxygen (100%) is applied to the entire body under increased pressure. “Hyper” means increased and “baric” refers to atmospheric pressure. Thus a hyperbaric treatment consists of a treatment that includes both the use of pure oxygen and increased pressure. Hyperbaric oxygen must be applied to the entire body to be effective. The pure oxygen under pressure is breathed into the lungs and raises the oxygen levels in the blood and tissues to hundreds of times greater than normal. This increased oxygen has a beneficial effect on the whole body and favorably effects the immune and inflammatory systems.
Many of the hyperbaric chambers used in non medical facilities or at home don’t really provide effective hyperbaric treatments. Some of these portable units use room air at 21% oxygen in comparison to 100% in our hyperbaric chambers. Also some units are only capable of delivering a mild pressure elevation in comparison to our chambers which are capable of increasing the pressure to 3 times normal.
